Today I am thankful for oh, so many people.

I love Thanksgiving. I love that our nation takes a whole day to stop, gather with loved ones, and pause to reflect on blessings. I know Thanksgiving 2020 was, in a lot of ways, a different kind of celebration for many. But the sentiment of the day remains.
As I paused today to reflect on my blessings, I had many, many thoughts. I’m thankful for a lot of things – my home, my dog, my car, a job that I love, a fridge full of food, and a closet full of clothes. I’m thankful for a myriad of amazing memories – special moments from the past that I’ll always hold dear. But mostly, I’m thankful for the people that God has placed in my life.
I’m thankful for family near and far. I can’t even imagine where I’d be without them. I am thankful for amazing colleagues who have become not only trusted coworkers, but valued friends. I’m thankful for friends from all parts of my life – those that I see regularly and those who I only see occasionally or just keep up with on social media or by text. I'm thankful for the kids I've been blessed to teach. I've learned at least as much from them as they have from me. I’m thankful for people I know casually and for the neighbors whose names I don’t even know. I don’t believe any of these people have crossed my path by accident and when I really reflect about it all I know that God has always placed the right people in my life at the right time over and over and over again.

So, if you happen to be reading this (and for the many who don’t), know that this Thanksgiving I thanked God for all of you – those I see every day, those I haven’t seen in 20 or 30 years, and everybody in between. I’m grateful for each of you, for the role that you play in my life and for the contributions you’ve made to it. I am abundantly blessed by you all.
