Today I am thankful for a 6:00 a.m. parking lot conversation.

My dear friend Julie works at our church, which happens to be right next to the school where I teach. On Tuesday mornings we often meet and have a cup of coffee together before either of us start our work day. It doesn’t work out every Tuesday morning, but when it does, it’s a guaranteed boost to my day.

I didn’t really have time for coffee this morning, but we did squeeze in a 10 minute chat before work. We stood in the church parking lot before the sun came up and talked. And then we both went our respective ways and got to work.

Friendships that don’t require anything special or fancy are my favorite. I love that a 10 minute parking lot chat about nothing in particular with a dear friend can fill my heart up and set the tone for a great day.

Julie had texted me early this morning and asked me about coming in early so she should could meet me before work. I actually told her no and not to hurry on my behalf. I’m thankful she didn’t listen, though, because those 10 minutes in the church parking lot this morning were some of the best minutes of my day.
