Today I am thankful for overpriced Lysol.

So, you know 2020 must be crazy when I’m thankful for Clorox on Friday and Lysol on Monday. Times are weird, y’all, but I gotta be honest. This can of Lysol is kind of a big deal.

I haven’t seen Lysol spray on the store shelves since March. Not at Target. Not at Walmart. Not at Home Depot. Not at the grocery store. I look for it pretty much whenever I’m in a store. I understand why it’s been in high demand, but I’m honestly kind of baffled that the supply chain hasn’t been able to catch up after all these months. I stopped by CVS today after school to pick up some photo prints, and I did a double take when I saw this on the shelf.
I have absolutely no idea what a 19 oz. can of Lysol cost pre-pandemic, but I’m willing to bet it was quite a bit less than what I paid for this tonight. I didn't hesitate though. I bought it without a second thought.
I know the pandemic is far from over. The winter surge is happening. I heard on the news this weekend that grocery stores were anticipating shortages of certain items again – ugh! So I know that it’s super idealistic of me to want to cling to a can of Lysol as a sign of hope, but honestly there was a twinge of hope in my gut when I saw this at CVS today. We gotta celebrate the small wins, and I’m claiming this as a small win. I like living in a world where Lysol isn’t out of stock for 9 months straight. Things certainly must be looking up, right? RIGHT??? RIIIIIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT???????
So, as crazy as it is that I’m thankful for this can of Lysol today, I am indeed thankful for this can of Lysol today. May I never take little things like a fully stocked shelf for granted again.
