Today I’m grateful for a big ol’ wad of singles on a Friday night.

After a long and challenging week I was very tempted to go straight home after work, put on my jammies, and fall asleep on the couch by 6 p.m. It wouldn’t have been my first Friday night spent this way.
But instead, I accepted my friend Julie’s invitation to have some Friday night fun. Now despite what you might be thinking about my big wad of singles, I did not have THAT kind of Friday night fun. Nope, it was just Bunko night and Julie’s Bunko group needed a sub.
I’ve subbed for Bunko many times, and I really enjoy this group of women. It’s always a fun night. But I knew I’d be tired tonight after a super long week and it was really far from my house, so I jokingly told Julie I’d only come play if I could be the winner.
Now believe me – no one was throwing any favors my way. This is a competitive group. And honestly, you can’t really cheat in Bunko. There’s no strategy involved in the game at all. I didn’t actually do very well playing Bunko tonight. I didn’t have the most Bunkos, didn’t have the high score, didn’t have the most wins and didn't have the most losses, all which would have gotten me some moolah. I didn’t even win the door prize. But we always end with a game of Left-Right-Center, which actually has the biggest payout of the night.

Julie was definitely pulling for me. She wouldn’t even make eye contact with me for the last several rolls of the dice, because my odds were looking good and she didn’t want to jinx my win. It worked too, because what do you know - your girl was the big winner! 36 smackeroos coming home in my wallet!
I’m glad I didn’t go with the pj’s and couch route this Friday night. Even though I was super tired and had a long drive home, a night with friends proved to be the end to a rough week that I needed. And, let’s be honest, the wad of cash certainly didn’t hurt either.
