Today I’m grateful for a cozy Friday night in.

When I took my students through the lunch line today, they had several options from which to choose. I’m not usually tempted by or envious of their cafeteria choices, but today I found myself really wanting one of the grilled cheese sandwiches they were serving. I’m not sure what it was about that sandwich, but it looked delicious.
Our APT had arranged a food truck for our staff for lunch today, so there was no way I was passing that up in exchange for a pre-packaged grilled cheese, but the thought of that grilled cheese sandwich stayed with me all day. It wasn’t just me, either. A colleague and I were both talking about it at afternoon recess – where to get a really good grilled cheese, how it would pair with an adult beverage, etc.

So, I went for it. I’ve been battling a cold all week, and there was nothing that sounded better to me than a cozy night in with chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. I decided to forego the adult beverage in favor of some hot tea and NyQuil, and I cuddled up with my oversized sweater and a blanket on the couch while I indulged.
I’m incredibly thankful that it’s the weekend. It was a busy, busy week and I’ve been walking the ‘sick/not sick’ line for days. I’m thankful for a free evening after a very full week. And I’m very thankful for some comfort food and coziness to kick it off.
