Today I’m grateful for a friend who knows how I take my coffee.

Tonight my prayer group met at my friend Nancy’s house. We sat around her fire pit catching up and sharing about our lives. Nancy had a pot of coffee ready for us when we arrived, and she poured me a cup before we headed out to her backyard. She pulled several creamers out of her fridge and started to reach for another one. She stopped before she grabbed it though, and said, “I’ve got pumpkin spice too, but I know you don’t like that one.” Her comment caught me off-guard and I instantly teared up. Instantly. Funny how our emotions work, but I got legit teary-eyed over pumpkin spice creamer. I was just so incredibly touched by the fact that Nancy had paid attention to this trivial little detail about me at one point over the course of our friendship, and remembered that I don’t do pumpkin spice coffee. When I questioned how in the world she remembered that about me, her response was simply, “You’re my friend. Of course I remember how you like your coffee.”
I’ve got some of the best friends in the world. I really do. They care for me in big ways and in little ways. And sometimes, like tonight, the little ways they love me end up being the big ways. How blessed I am.
