Today I’m grateful for a new day.

I went to Costco this morning to grab a couple of things. On my way out of the store I stopped to have the receipt checker check my receipt. I smiled at the woman and asked her how she was doing as she glanced at the items in my cart. Our conversation went something like this.

Me: “How are you?”

Costco Lady: “I’m great!”

Me: “That’s awesome!”

Costco Lady: “I mean, I woke up today. How can I not be great?”

Me: “I love that!”

Costco Lady: “You woke up today too, huh?”

Me: “Sure did.”

Costco Lady: “That’s a big deal.”

Me: “Yeah, you’re right”

I’ve been thinking about Costco Lady all day. Her response to my simple question was much more than I was expecting in that moment but it sure made me stop and think. I take so dang much for granted that I sometimes forget to count the most simple, yet significant, blessings. I woke up today. I was given a fresh new day to make of it as I choose.

With that gift, how can I not be great?
