Today I’m grateful for glasses to choose and glasses with booze.

After school today I met my friend Julie at my eye doctor. I had an appointment last week to get my prescription updated, but I knew better than to pick out new frames without her help. Julie and I have an agreement when it comes to choosing new glasses. It’s a commitment to being kind, yet brutally and unapologetically honest. She’s helped me pick out my last several pairs, and I’ve done the same for her.

When picking out new frames I don’t want someone telling me every pair looks nice. Nope. I want a friend who will be honest enough to tell me what looks good, what looks bad, and what looks utterly ridiculous. I tried on my fair share of each of these today and settled on a cute pair that we both loved. I realized after we left the store that I hadn’t snapped a picture of the winning frames. I guess I’ll have to wait 10-14 days to see them again. I did, however, capture a few pics of some that got put into the utterly ridiculous category.

After choosing my glasses, Julie and I went and made a different kind of glasses choice. This one involved happy hour and a decision on what to get in our glasses (see what I did there?!?!). We were equally as happy with the decisions we made at happy hour as I was with the decision I made at the eye doctor.
Today I’m thankful for a friend who will tell it like it is. I’m thankful for the Friday afternoon fits of laughter as I tried on pair after pair of bad frames. I’m thankful we found the perfect pair of glasses, and I’m thankful for the glasses we clinked to celebrate our successful find!
