Today I’m grateful for nothing.

Yeah, you read that right. But it doesn’t mean what you think it might. I am indeed grateful, but today it’s gratitude for nothingness. I had a whole day filled with nothing, and it was glorious.

There was no school today. Originally, I had a full day planned for myself. I had several chores I was going to get done. I had some errands to run. I had a couple of work tasks I was going to knock out. I had plans for a very productive day.

But I woke up with a hint of a cough and promptly decided to do none of it. I’ve been fighting off the start of a head cold the past couple of days, and I’m bound and determined not to let it develop into a full-on sickness. So, when I sensed a tickle in my throat this morning I declared today a do-nothing day.

What did I cross off my to-do list today? Nothing.

What did I cook today? Nothing.

What did I clean and organize today? Nothing.

Where did I go today? Nowhere. Not even the mailbox.

Did I open my work computer? Nope.

Instead, I laid on the couch. I rested. I watched 2 weeks’ worth of Wheel of Fortune episodes and solved every puzzle. I ate cereal and leftovers. I scrolled on my phone. I stayed in my pajamas all stinkin’ day. And I was happy as could be.

Sometimes rest is the most productive thing you can do. So, cheers to nothing – a whole awesome day of it.
