Today I’m grateful for some TLC in a bowl.

Today was not a great day for me. The details aren’t important, but let’s just say that today gets 0/10 stars. Would not recommend.

In an after-school text rant to my dear friend Jaime, I declared what a crazy day it had been, how I was still sick, and how all I wanted to do was go home and go to bed in the hopes of leaving this bad day behind and feeling better tomorrow. It was something like that anyway (although perhaps my language was a tad bit more colorful).

Not 5 minutes later, I was in my car and headed home when I got a text message with confirmation for a DoorDash order. Jaime had ordered chicken noodle soup, crackers, and popsicles to be delivered to my door. He knew I’d been battling this cold and that I’d had a hard day, so he sent a little TLC in the form of soup.

I cried.

Having people in my life who care for me (like really, really care for me) is something I find myself thanking God for quite often. I really don’t know how I got so blessed. I mean, in this moment, Jaime single-handedly turned my day around with his thoughtfulness and generosity.

And, because of his act of kindness, tonight I’m headed to bed, no longer crabby from my bad day. Instead, I’m grateful for a bowl of soup that both soothed my throat and warmed my heart.
