Today I’m grateful for the soundtrack of my day.

I pretty much always have a song in my head. It’s actually kind of fascinating to me that not everyone’s brain works like this. I honestly can’t imagine what it would be like not to have a constant stream of music in my mind, acting as a soundtrack to my day.
I spent more than a little time tonight going down a deep rabbit hole trying to find a cute children’s song about Earth Day. Yeah, I do know it’s in April – there was a reason, I promise. But as I hopped from one youtube video to another, before I knew it I was crying while watching a video clip from a JellyRoll concert. How did I start with children’s Earth Day songs and end up at JellyRoll? Can’t say I know quite how that happened. But it did. And then I started to reflect on other songs that accompanied my day today. Some I sang aloud and some I listened to, but some just danced around in my heart and in my head space. It’s an awfully varied list …

A few highlights:
The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Goodness of God
Working 9 to 5
Little Drummer Boy
For Good (from the Wicked Soundtrack)
Isn’t it Ironic?
Oh, my Darlin’ Clementine
Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone
Hollaback Girl (but just the part about the bananas)
Christ in Me Arise
Ashokan Farewell
Cracklin’ Rosie
ABC ya later
76 Trombones
The Gambler
5 Green and Speckled Frogs
You Will be Found
These are just the ones I’m remembering off the top of my head. There were definitely more.
I’m sure to some this is kind of weird. But I gotta say, having a soundtrack to my life is actually kinda fun. On any given day, I’m not so sure it’s a soundtrack anyone else would care to listen to, but that’s okay. It’s mine. And I’m thankful for it.
