Today I’m grateful for those who have sacrificed so I can be free.

I had a pretty good day today. There was no school because of Veterans Day, so I slept in and had a leisurely cup of coffee in bed. I took a walk through my neighborhood and did a few things around my house. I cleaned the kitchen, mopped the floors, vacuumed up dog hair, and took out the trash. I did a little cooking and prepared my lunches for this week. I took a nap and chatted for a bit with a friend. Tonight, I watched Wheel of Fortune, played a game on my phone, and fell asleep on the couch for a bit. Nothing too special – just a good day full of normal stuff.

Veterans Day is a yearly reminder to me of all those who have sacrificed (and those who continue to sacrifice) so I can do all these normal day things that I so easily take for granted. I hate that I sometimes lose sight of all the sacrifices others made so that I could do simple things like take a walk through my neighborhood, do chores around my home, and prepare for my work week ahead.
Tonight as I head to bed, I thank God for all those who have served our country, and I pray for the humility of heart to remember these sacrifices more than once a year.
