Today I'm thankful for Clorox and Coca-Cola.

I was on the struggle bus today. Some days the motivation is a flowin’ and some days it isn’t. Today was the latter. All is well, but from the minute I woke up today I pretty much just wanted to sit on my couch and stare at my Christmas tree. Adulting is hard.
I resisted the urge to stay at home in my pajamas today, and honestly, the effort was worth it. It was actually a really good day. That doesn’t mean I wasn’t dragging pretty much the whole gosh darn day, though. My class has a late lunch this year, and by the time I left the kids in the cafeteria I was no longer on the struggle bus. I was being drug by it.
We did a messy craft project right before lunch and the kids’ tables were covered with glue. I absolutely needed to wipe down the tables before they came back – they were an icky, sticky mess. I pulled out a canister of my favorite Clorox wipes and went to town.
Now, I’m guessing that some of you probably read that and are thinking, “She has a favorite type of Clorox wipes? The girl has lost her mind.” To this I would say that yes, I do, and yes, it’s quite possible that I have. However, I’d also be willing to bet that if Clorox wipes ever come back in stock for more than 42 seconds and you ever have the opportunity to buy and use these magical wipes, you’d be a fan as well.
Here’s the thing. They smell like pina coladas. For real. 100% like pina coladas. So as I wiped down the tables, I went on a little mental vacation to the beach. It was lovely there. There were no responsibilities. No pandemic. And no sticky glue.
I ate a quick lunch, got things ready for the afternoon, and then remembered the emergency Coke Zero in my classroom refrigerator. I don’t drink a lot of soda, but when I do, I’m all about the Coke Zero. I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure that Friday the 13th in the year 2020 qualifies as an emergency, so I opened that bad boy and drank the whole dang thing. And I tell you what – it was just what I needed.
Between my mini beach vacation and the Coke zero, I powered through the afternoon and even ended the day with a pep in my step. So long struggle bus. Wiebel for the win!
