Today I'm thankful for silly moments spent with my students.

Tonight was Western Round-up at my school. It's a big family event with food trucks and games and bounce houses and prizes and dancing and all kinds of fun.

My students and I played classroom BINGO all week -- they covered a square on our class BINGO board each time the entire class followed directions quickly. They were quite motivated because I promised them that that if they got BINGO before the end of the day on Friday I would kiss a pig at Western Round-up. For the past several days, every time they'd cover a square the whole class would chant "Kiss that pig! Kiss that pig!" It was pretty darn cute.

Well, it came down to the wire, but at 2:45 this afternoon they got a BINGO. So tonight, I "kissed that pig!" The pictures don't show the actual smooch, but I assure you, it happened.

Immediately afterwards, I joined two of my first grade colleagues in the silly string corral as we battled our students in an epic silly string fight. The giggles and shrieks were priceless, and made the gigantic sticky mess all worth it.

While I do my very best to keep my classroom light-hearted and fun, we don't always have the opportunity in our very busy days to be completely carefree and crazy. So, tonight I embraced my inner silly and took full advantage of the opportunity to just have some plain ol' silly fun with my students (who, by the way completely annihilated me in the silly string battle).
